I recently realized that I have been ignorant of the names of other races besides those of the Dark Elves/Dunmer and the Argonians/Saxhleel. I named characters as I wished, and looking back on them now, I realize the names I chose were pretty stereotypical and, frankly, rude in the world of Elder Scrolls.
For instance, I named my Khajiit character “Miranjri” which sounds Khajiit-like, but it’s not an actual name a Khajiit would have. In fact, I’m pretty sure that name is completely meaningless to the Khajiit.
So, as a present for my now 1,000 followers, I’m starting a series of posts about the lore-friendly rules to go by when naming your characters. Starting with the Khajiit, I’ll have a post for each race and I’ll link each post to this one as I go. The series will also be tagged #eslorenames. I hope you enjoy. :)
Reblogging for newcomers to the blog. I’m going to get back into this blog soon, guys! I have Redguard First Names 80% done, and I want to re-organize the blog so that you can find this post without my having to reblog it every now and then. Thanks for following!
karliah im TRYING to excavate and youre stressing me out
First time players: fuck we’re gonna DROWN there’s no way out of here we’re all gonna DIE
Seventh time players knowing exactly where and when the hole in the ceiling will open up, and having cast a water breathing spell before going in: I have one chance in this location before I have to dive through several dozen feet of water to get to this modded excavation site, KARLIAH LET ME DIG
wait why is it assumed that “logically” the dragonborn would be a nord? The dragon blood can be given to anyone, yeah, but of the known dragonborns, Miraak is a nord, and the rest are imperial rulers of cyrodiil. If anything the assumption should be that the dragonborn would be an imperial, but people in the game get all wierd about them being anything other than a nord
I might be forgetting something, it has been a minute since i played the main quest
can you imagine though, being a mage in the kirkwall circle. the worst circle in thedas. where templars beat and raped and abused mages, where harrowed mages where made tranquil for slights or to make abuse of them easier. where the knight commander and knight captain do nothing to stop them
then the kirkwall rebellion happens and you get out. you wander around thedas for a while and you hear about the inquisition and maybe the leader is a mage, or sympathetic towards mages, allied with the mages. so you go to join the inquisition, and there the leader of their armies is the same man who ignored the beatings and rape his subordinates did and the actions of his superior
Spokesperson for the mages: hey so we’d love to have basic supplies for our group of refugees that you brought out here and also not be housed next to the people who used to beat, murder and imprison us
Cassandra: wow so what I’m hearing now is a lot of complaining :/ like lmao just stop being so mad :/ be a grown up! It’s like you were raised in a tower and made incapable of providing for yourself haha…
